Happy New Year #2K18

Out with the old, in with the new….

Oh my, 2017 flew by quickly…  I don’t know if it is just me, but it seems like only yesterday, we were celebrating the #2K17. Time is passing by too fast!

Looking back at 2017, overall, it was a good year. I spent more time with family, friends, and love ones, sharpened the saw, learned new skills (including a foreign language), worked on side coding projects, took a pause to focus on healing, and most importantly enjoyed reading some good books.

I plan to update you more on all of these rewarding experiences and accomplishments soon by sharing what I learned on the journey.  While I had hoped to be more diligent in blogging in 2017, God had something better planned.

With that regard, the one thing that has kept me going in a year filled with many ups and downs is reading devotionals. Seriously, a few moments in the early morning each day reading Wake Up to the WORD: 365 Devotions to Inspire You Each Day has really change me.

I love the way, Joyce takes only “one” word each day and delivers a powerful message to help you BE a better Christian. Last year, I started writing in my journal prayers, notes and reflections from each devotion.

Seriously, even when we “think” we are doing things “right” as believers, we must still learn how to do things God’s way.

As for me, it’s out with the old in with the new. Everything must change. Continuous improvement is vital to your success. Just keepin’ it real with yah!  I know I want to continuously improve in all areas not just my career or profession. Don’t you?

I truly enjoyed reading her perspective on topics that have been discussed repeatedly in church. What’s more, she supports her opinion with scripture. I am amazed at how much I learn from just reading one book for a few moment every morning. She is an amazing women of God.

I am looking forward to reading a new devotional in 2018 along with a few other books that come highly recommended such as Lean In. I’ve been wanting to read this book for a long time. I read the sample on Amazon a long time ago, but waited because I was reading a couple other books at the time.

No, I did not buy the book. It’s a loaner! I downloaded the sample, like I do with most books and I put it in my “must read” list. I waited to get if from my twin sister, Linda after learning she was reading it. She finally sent it to me, after she finished it. Yay!
