It’s been one heck of a year wearing many hats, balancing multiple projects, and staying on my grind. So when my twin sister, Linda, asked me to go to Vegas for our birthday, I was like sure. I’m in!
I drove down to Keller, Texas to Linda’s then we flew to Las Vegas to celebrate our birthday. We were on Virgin America flight 777. I suppose the triple sevens should’ve made us feel lucky. I know, Right? I was really hoping to hit triple sevens on the slot machines too. Cha-Ching!
Although I haven’t flown anywhere since 2003, it wasn’t that bad despite all the negativity in the news about the recent terrorist attacks. Lucky for us, we had a couple of motor mouths sitting behind us, so I couldn’t sleep at all on the airplane or think about anything else.
I suppose I’m just a nice person, because I really wanted to tell that passenger behind me to SHUT UP! She was all over the place, running her mouth, hitting the back of my seat, and disturbing things underneath it too. Yep, she was a real piece of work.
I couldn’t even read my book because of the constant distractions. Therefore, I settled on looking at the free cooking videos on the monitor in front of me. I actually learned a little about cooking while flying in the sky.
Anyway, I knew they did things BIG in Texas, but in Vegas… WOW! It’s even BIGGER.
You can’t beat the Vegas strip. I thought Tunica, Mississippi was something. Vegas has practically everything you would ever want. Anyway, now you know why I did not post anything for the past week or so. I was too busy enjoying:
The Penn & Teller show is a must see. These magicians will blow your mind. I don’t want to say too much. However, their card of love trick at the end of the show was incredible. How did they do it? They even made a elephant disappear. How did they do that? Ha, Ha! I don’t know how they do what they do. However, what I do know is they have been doing it very well for several decades. It was an outstanding performance.
The Mystere show is filled with singing, high flying acrobats and much more. There is so much happening both on and off the stage that you can watch it more than once and see something different each time. It is good wholesome fun for the entire family.
And of course, I enjoyed plenty of “good eats” too.
I will admit that I ventured a little off of my healthy living path. There was so much to choose from, so making good food decisions was rather difficult. For instance, while walking in the mall, I spotted some cheesy popcorn a mile away. We had some of the most delicious mouthwatering popcorn from Garret Popcorn Stores. We purchase a large bag mixed with three types of popcorn: CheeseCorn, Chocolate, and CaramelCrisp. I know, bad decision, but it was sinfully good. My hands and mouth were covered in cheese. Yummy!
Oh and by the way, I did eat something healthy at Cafe Bellagio. I tried the mushroom tacos (hint I am a vegetarian) and the greek salad with green tea and honey. Okay… I did eat the bread (as Oprah would say… LOL) with butter, which is a big no, no.
Now, most people that know me know that I am lover of Mexican food. We went to this little spot in the Venetian. It was gorgeous. We were eating alongside the Grand Canal underneath a cloudy blue sky at Cañonita in the Venetian. Imagine that!
I will admit, I did not order a salad. However, I did get their crunchy chips and guacamole, which are the best I’ve had (Again, it was sinfully good.). The Wild Mushroom Enchiladas with beans and rice (Poblano cream sauce, white rice, borracho beans, pico de gallo) was different, but great. Great food, spectacular views, and a wonderful place to relax and unwind… I couldn’t begin to ask for anything else for lunch especially after walking the entire mall. At least, I did try to burn off some calories exercise while shopping.
These are just a few highlights from my Vegas vacation. I am glad that I took the plunge and vacationed in Sin City. Yeah, I still can’t believe that I spent Easter weekend in Vegas. Although I really didn’t know what to expect because of the holiday, Vegas didn’t disappoint. The city never sleeps.
I can’t wait to return. I would love to go back and see Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, or those washboard abs on the Chippendales. Don’t tell anyone though. Can’t a girl dream?! Remember… “What happens in Vegas… Stays in Vegas!” Until next time, Keep it…
